Custom Stamp Size Guide

  • Custom Stamp Size Guide

Choose a custom stamp by the space available on your paper and the wording you need to repeat. A short name, a full professional-details block and an invoice-coding form need different proportions. This guide compares the seven StampOz custom sizes and helps you check a layout before ordering.

Read the dimensions in the right direction

Our product names commonly show height × width. In the table below, we show width × height so you can compare the landscape impression on a form. A product called “40mm × 60mm” has a 60 mm wide × 40 mm high impression area. These are design dimensions, not the outer stamp body dimensions.

Custom stamp sizes: width × height in millimetres
ImpressionA starting point forCheck before choosing
40 × 20 mmA short status word or compact detailsKeep the wording brief; long names may need more width.
50 × 25 mmA name and professional roleTry the complete name, not initials unless initials are intended.
80 × 30 mmA wide statement or witness blockAllow for signature and date spaces as well as fixed wording.
60 × 40 mmBusiness details or several labelled identifiersCheck the longest line and keep identifiers distinct.
70 × 40 mmA ruled office form or fuller details blockLeave usable room for handwritten codes and amounts.
90 × 40 mmLong wording with more horizontal roomConfirm the form has enough uninterrupted space.
95 × 65 mmA larger custom layoutCheck the selected shape, border and usable text area in the product preview.

These are layout starting points, not guaranteed line capacities. Font, name length, borders, logos and handwriting fields all affect how much information remains readable.

Measure the actual form before comparing previews

  1. Find the blank area where the stamp will go. Measure its usable width and height with a ruler, avoiding printed instructions and signature boxes.
  2. Draw a rectangle at the candidate dimensions on scrap paper, or cut a paper rectangle and hold it against the form.
  3. Write out the exact fixed text and list the fields you will complete by hand. Both need space.
  4. Open a matching size or a professional stamp template, enter the real wording and review the whole layout.

Long names and multi-line stamps

Give the longest important line enough width. If a name wraps awkwardly, compare a wider size or a deliberate two-line arrangement. For healthcare details, keep each applicable identifier beside its own label. For company details, remove an optional contact line if it is not needed rather than automatically shrinking everything.

More lines are not always more useful. Prioritise information that the receiving form actually needs. If you cannot read the smallest text comfortably, ask for help with the layout before approving it.

Ruled office stamps need writing space

For invoice coding, goods checks or mail routing, the blank areas matter as much as the labels. Consider the longest account code, the date format and the amount or signature that must fit. Compare the 70 × 40 mm Invoice Coding Stamp with your actual workflow, not only the number of boxes in its preview.

Choosing a size for books and teacher feedback

A book-ownership stamp needs to fit the blank area without covering existing print. The 50 × 25 mm library layout suits a short name and return message; optional illustrations leave less room for text. Measure the available space first, and test comparable spare paper before marking a book.

A teacher feedback record needs blank space for handwriting as well as printed labels. Compare the 60 × 40 mm layout with the comments you actually write. A larger preview does not increase the physical writing area.

Compare library patterns and teacher feedback layouts before choosing between an ownership message, writable record or short custom classroom wording.

Does the mobile preview show the real physical size?

No. The on-screen preview may be enlarged or reduced to fit the device. Use it to inspect wording, alignment and spacing; use the stated millimetre dimensions and a ruler to judge physical size. Browser zoom is not a reliable size measurement.

What should I check before production?

Review the final proof for spelling, numbers, line breaks, left and right edges, ink colour, dimensions and writable spaces. The interactive layout preview helps you design, but final proof approval is still required before production. See the proof and approval process.
